Blessed Litha to all you Witches! It's the Summer Equinox, first day of summer, longest day of the year, Midsummer. (Boy that was a mouthful!) Today is the longest day of the year and the celebration of the beginning of summer. So it's all about being outside! Most traditions include lighting of bonfires and dancing till the wee hours.
In Wales, today is called Gathering Day, as it was the perfect time for harvesting wild herbs. They would be at their peak and done growing at Midsummer and the power of this particular day would add to their benefits.
Visit the local farmer's market for some fresh fruit and vegetables. Make crowns out of local flowers, then have a picnic with your friends. Take some time to enjoy the earth's bounty as we head into the harvest season. The days will start getting shorter before we know it.
Blessed Be.
